How fees work
How paying for therapy works here, in the order most people ask.
Insurance we work with
I am out of network, so I do not bill your insurance plan. Some PPO and POS plans reimburse part of the cost of out-of-network care, and your plan decides how much. I do not bill Medicare or Medicaid.

HSA and FSA cards are accepted
If you pay yourself
You pay at each session. Before we start, I give you my fee in writing, so there is nothing to guess. A limited number of reduced-fee spots may be open, so please ask when you write. I ask for 24 hours' notice to cancel, and a late cancellation may be charged, up to the fee for the session.
Receipts for reimbursement
Each month I send an itemized receipt, called a superbill, that you can submit to your plan. It lists a diagnosis code, which your plan will see. Your plan decides whether to reimburse, and I cannot promise it will.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of care before you start. I give you a written estimate in advance of your first session. It is an estimate and not a contract, and you can dispute a bill that is $400 or more above it.
Checking your benefits
Because I am out of network, I do not check your benefits for you. Before your first session, call your plan and ask what it covers for out-of-network mental health care and what a receipt must show.
Your fee is given to you in writing before your first session.
